Getting Started

I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. But a lot of writer’s can say that, can’t they? In high school and college, I enrolled in every type of writing class I could get my hands on. From comics to fantasy to non-fiction, I tried it all. And LOVED it all.

When I got a grown-up job as a teacher, my writing shifted to teaching kids how to write. I didn’t have as much time for my own writing.

When I became a mom of three, I was lucky if I had time to shower, let alone write. I decided to start journals for each of my three kids. That lasted a year. There just wasn’t any time.

In 2016, our family needed to hit the reset button. My husband’s business was growing very fast, we had just had our second child a few months before, our oldest child was having health concerns and we didn’t have time for a lot. I took a family leave to help our family get back on track. And it was the best thing that ever happened to us. Our oldest got better, we were less stressed, I could focus on home while my husband focused on work and things just made more sense.

Fast forward to New Year’s Eve 2019. My two oldest were in school. My youngest had just turned a year. I was ready to DO something again. We were having a night out with our NYE buddies, Betsy and Mike, and I confided in Mike that writing had been on my mind a lot. But I was afraid. How do I even start doing something like that?

Mike is a therapist and he told me that the thing he hears most from his clients is that they are afraid to start something new. His advice to me: JUST START.

So I did.

And here we are.

I haven’t been on this journey for very long but I have learned so much, met amazing people and I’m having FUN.

I can’t wait to share my stories with the world.
